AIDS is short for Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome. It started suddenly in America in mid 1981 and quickly flared into world prominence. It is a highly lethal disease believed caused by the HIV virus. Symptoms often come on surreptitiously, with a mild fever, weight loss, general swelling of the lymph glands around the body, and probably diarrhoea.

That is why, after a major flight, a person is advised to rest up and sleep for a day or two, allowing the internal clock to become readjusted. Otherwise, foolish decisions may be made, bad-tempered and ill-considered judgments made, reckless driving indulged in, and other serious situations occur.

This becomes a way of life. Indeed, in some it becomes such a mechanical clockwork procedure that many women can state with unfailing accuracy the actual date and sometimes the hour, at which the first telltale trickle will indicate an oncoming menstrual flow.
