Lacus Mortis, in Latin "Lake of Death", is 151 km in diameter, and is a plain of basaltic lava flows, located on the north-east of the Moon. It lies south of Mare Frigoris, being separated from the sea, by a thin arm terrain. South is Lacus Somniorum.

Craterul Posidonius este un crater foarte frumos. Aceste imagini scot in evidenta podeaua lui,care prezinta multe caracteristici interesante. Cea mai interesanta dintre acestea este peretele semicircular din interiorul acestuia din partea de est. Posidonius A, cu un diametru de 11 km, se afla aproape de centrul podelei, spre vest. Dupa cum observam, marginea de est este mai inalta decat cea de vest, ceea ce denota faptul ca acest crater a fost inundat de lava care a intrat in el pe la nord-vest.

Posidonius crater is beautiful. These images presents many interesting features. The most interesting of these is a semi-circular wall of the inside floor of the east. Posidonius A, with a diameter of 11 km, is located near the center of the floor. Notice that the eastern edge is higher than the west, which suggests that in this crater when was first flooded, the lava entered in the northwest.
